ALK has a well-established global organizational structure for safety, health and environmental management throughout the company.
The entire system and actual performance are audited by internal auditors as well as assessed periodically by national and local authorities. ALK holds both an environmental certification (ISO 14001) and a health and safety certification (OHSAS 18001) in Denmark. The other production sites in Madrid (Spain), Vandeuil and Varennes (France) and Port Washington, Round Rock, Post Falls and Spring Mills (USA) all comply with the standards of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
An important part of the work on SHE relates to employee safety and welfare, which is measured for instance on the basis of occupational injury frequency and sick leave rate. ALK’s target is to minimize the frequency of occupational injuries with sick leave. ALK’s current injury frequency at 1.5 injuries per million working hours is below average for the industry.
