ALK has roots in the academic world and a very strong scientific tradition of advanced allergy research. Through publications in recognized scientific journals and participation at international congresses, our researchers contribute to the scientific community.
On these pages we focus on a number of selected important publications.
Two milestones
Two important milestones have been reached in the understanding of the nature and treatment of respiratory allergic diseases.
- Allergy specialists together with the WHO have published the ARIA Report (Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma) with guidelines for allergy treatment.
- The PAT-study (Preventive Allergy Treatment) has shown that allergy vaccination significantly reduces the risk of allergic hay fever developing into asthma.
The common conclusion is that a global approach is needed to optimize allergy treatment for the benefit of the increasing number of allergy patients throughout the world.
Allergy vaccination – together with allergen avoidance, treatment of symptoms and education of the patient – is the cornerstone of this global approach.
