At ALK we believe we can best support the Allergy Specialist by providing a thorough characterization of the extracts being used to diagnose and treat the allergic patient. A number of well-controlled studies have demonstrated how allergen-specific immunotherapy requires close attention to both the dose of allergen administered as well as the duration of treatment. Therefore, the lot-to-lot profile of an allergenic extract should be well defined to help ensure continuity of care.
In the laboratories of ALK, we are continually developing methodology to examine many of our extracts for their purity, complexity, potency, and stability – what we call the key parameters of allergenic extracts. It is this well-characterized approach that allows us to supply the Allergy Specialist with useful information regarding the overall quality of our products.
