 ALK's Scientific Services Team has over 100 years of combined experience in allergenic extracts and can assist your practice with cutting edge information on scientific topics of interest to practicing allergy specialists. In addition to the team below, ALK provides a large variety of Physician Resources to assist you and your practice.

 

 

 

Greg Plunkett has led ALK’s analytical laboratory since June 2001.  Under the direction of Dr. Plunkett, the analytical laboratory has focused on the characterization of allergenic extracts by evaluating the purity, complexity, potency, and stability of ALK’s source material and finished products. 

Dr. Plunkett also delivers lectures throughout the US with a focus on allergenic extract composition and analysis. Dr. Plunkett has over 27 years of experience in allergen characterization.  Prior to joining ALK, Dr. Plunkett served as a Research Scientist in the laboratories of Hollister-Stier where he offered technical guidance for numerous product development efforts.

Dr. Plunkett received a Bachelors degree in Chemistry from Cal State University, Fullerton and a Ph.D. from Washington State University in the field of biochemisty.

 

 

 

 

 

Bob Erskine is Associate Scientific Director at ALK and he has been with the company since 2006. Mr. Erskine leads the scientific support activities at ALK and provides technical guidance for multiple departments including sales, marketing, product development, quality control, and customer service. Additionally, Mr. Erskine delivers educational lectures at teaching institutions throughout North America and works closely with key opinion leaders to better understand allergenic extracts and their use for allergy diagnosis and treatment.

Mr. Erskine has over 10 years of laboratory experience in molecular and cellular immunology. Prior to joining ALK-Abelló, Mr. Erskine developed immunoassays at Biogen Idec for the preclinical evaluation of a humanized monoclonal antibody treatment for multiple sclerosis.

Mr. Erskine received a Bachelors degree in Microbiology from Texas A&M University and studied for three years in the Immunology Ph.D. program at Harvard Medical School where his research interests focused on antigen presentation and lymphocyte development.

 

 

 

 

 

Joshua Young is a Scientific Support Specialist who is responsible for providing technical support to physicians and nurses who use ALK products.  He is also involved in reviewing scientific literature and developing technical materials for the company as well as training ALK sales representatives and other personnel.
 
Prior to joining the company, Mr. Young spent 3 years in Schering-Plough's Global Clinical Supplies group coordinating the manufacture, packaging and distribution of pharmaceuticals used in large multi-country Phase II and III clinical trials.  He also has experience in product development in the medical device industry as well as extensive laboratory experience in molecular and cellular biology.
 
Mr. Young received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  He graduated with University Honors and Departmental Distinction, with a focus on neuroscience and pre-medicine.  He also received a Master of Science degree in Molecular & Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with a focus on biochemistry and molecular genetics.

Scientific Contribitors

Richard Lankow, PhD - Dr. Lankow received a Bachelors degree in botany from the University of Nevada and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Davis in the field of plant pathology and plant biochemistry.  Additionally, Dr. Lankow delivers educational lectures and “weed walks” at teaching institutions throughout the US and offers guidance to key opinion leaders about allergenic extracts and their use for allergy diagnosis and treatment. Prior to joining ALK, Dr. Lankow guided product development and commercial development efforts for a biotechnology company in the food safety and environmental testing field.

Jeffrey S. Hallett, MD - Dr. Hallett is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. From 1983 to 1987, Dr. Hallett served as the Chief of the Allergy & Immunology Service at the USAF Regional Medical Center, Scott AFB, Illinois. He is in private practice in Round Rock, Texas and he is also on staff at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center. Dr. Hallett is a native of West Virginia where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from West Virginia University. He received his medical degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1978. Dr. Hallett completed both his Pediatric residency and his Allergy, Asthma & Immunology fellowship at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Hallett is a popular guest lecturer at professional symposiums nationwide. He is a Fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. He is also a member of the Texas Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Society, the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America, the Texas Medical Association and the Travis County Medical Society.

 Peter Hauck -  Pete brings more than 30 years experience in the manufacture of allergenic extracts and during that time has authored 13 scientific publications and review articles on allergen manufacture and characterization. Pete has served as the industry representative for the FDA’s Allergenic Products advisory panel for several years, as well as the President and Executive Director for Scientific Affairs of the Allergenic Products Manufacturers Association (APMA). Pete has a BS degree in Biological Science from Kansas State University. He served his country with the 11th Light Infantry Brigade in Vietnam.
