In the UK, venom allergy is usually caused by stings, from the Honey Bee (Apis Mellifera) or the wasp (Vespula Sp.). Hypersensitivity reactions to Hymenoptera stings may be either local or generalised. Local reactions are excessively large local swellings at the sting site.
Generalised reactions are remote from the sting site; are often rapid in onset and vary in severity.
